If, as Shakespeare says, “the fault is not in our stars, but in ourselves,” then we’re responsible for getting into and out of our own messes. The Gospel says we’re broken beyond repair and needed Jesus to make us new. But His struggle against man’s brokenness ended in His death, and we’re all still struggling to live right today. So what hope is there for the messes of men?
