In Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", the grumpy, cold-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge dreaded the arrival of another Christmas. But then he received unexpected visits from his deceased business partner, Jacob Marley, and three ghosts from his past, his present, and his future.
When Jesus came into the world two thousand years ago, he came to an unexpected people, in an unexpected way, in an unexpected place, and in unexpected circumstances. Everything about the first Christmas was, well unexpected.
This Christmas season, we're looking at the Dickens' classic tale and the gospel of Jesus' arrival into the world in order to explore what unexpected truths can be learned about our own yesterdays, todays, and tomorrows.
