In Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", the grumpy,
cold-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge dreaded the arrival of another
Christmas. But then he received unexpected visits from his deceased
business partner, Jacob Marley, and three ghosts from his past, his
present, and his future.
When Jesus came into the world two thousand years ago, He came to
an unexpected people, in an unexpected way, in an unexpected place,
and in unexpected circumstances. Everything about the first
Christmas was, well... unexpected.
This Christmas season, we're looking at Dickens' classic tale and
the gospel of Jesus' arrival into the world in order to explore
what unexpected truths can be learned about our own yesterdays,
todays, and tomorrows.
